Haha, almost no one says more FUN on Facebook

The majority of the people on Facebook want to express that something is funny to find, uses the expression ‘haha’. In less than 2 percent of the cases, people say on Facebook ‘LOL’ to show that they are somewhere to have a laugh.

Under the ‘haha’ are also variants like ‘hahaha’ and ‘hahahaha’, say the researchers in the Facebook Research, the onderzoekstak of the social network. The dataset were all the posts and responses on Facebook in the last week of may. Because the research from Facebook came, they also had access to posts and comments that users normally are not visible.

In one in three cases, people used an emoji to express that they are somewhere the humor of the top. ‘Hehe’ was also common. The users of LOL are not only less numerous, but also, on average, older than that of ‘haha’ or an emoji.

The researchers limited themselves to the English expressions, and emoji’s that in English-speaking countries are common, making the situation elsewhere may be different. How many people in the study actually had to laugh and how many people it is not thought or the expression of humor ironic or sarcastic sense, is unknown.
