Chinese manufacturer makes a phone with custom rom out-of-the-box

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is going to be a phone release that out-of-the-box with a custom Miui rom running. Miui is one of the most popular custom roms for Android. Users are likely to have standard root access on the device.

Much is still unknown about the Xiaomi M1, but there is a product page online. The phone has a lcd from Sharp with a resolution of 854×480 pixels. The diagonal of the screen is 4″. The device runs on a dualcore soc from Qualcomm with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. Supposedly it goes to the same MSM8260 as in the HTC Sensation and Evo 3D.

The unit must be in August or september come on the market and will be sold online. Via grey imports will likely be copies to arrive in Europe. Since gsm bands are supported, users can also in the Netherlands calls with the device.

The phone will be delivered with a custom rom of Miui. Around Googles mobile operating system has a vibrant community arise from users who have custom firmware on their devices flashing. The most famous of these is CyanogenMod. Miui is known for the interface of iOS as much as possible to mimic.

The creators of Miui put a mockup on the website. A deleted image showed a device that is similar to both the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S II. Supposedly, the appearance of the phone are still unknown. The release date of August/september is therefore at least uncertain: for a release in september, must now in many cases all of the parts are made.
