Apple is the new global leader in the field of smartphones. Former market leader Nokia sold in the second quarter to 16.7 million smartphones; Apple did in the same quarter of the 20 million iPhones to sell.
Nokia sold in the last quarter, 34 percent less smartphones than in the same quarter last year. According to Nokia ceo Stephen Elop is the strong decrease, by Nokia in a transitional phase. The manufacturer has stated that Symbian will eventually be replaced by Windows Phone, but Nokia’s with Windows Phone coming later this year on the market.
