AMD sells more mobile processors and less gpu’s

AMD did in its second quarter, a record number of mobile processors to deliver 70 percent of the mobile chips is now a Fusion model. The desktop and serverchips did it less and also the gpu branch performed poorly.

Both in terms of turnover and amount of supplies represent the Fusion apu’s now 70 percent of the processors for laptops and tablets, told AMD’s temporary ceo Thomas Siefert during the publication of the quarterly figures. AMD produced six million Brazos-apu’s and a million Llano-apus in the past quarter. According to Siefert is Llano faster by the market picked up than Brazos.

The sales of server and desktopchips was less wonderful. The revenue of the Computing Solutions-branch reason for this was 1.2 billion dollars, just as in the same quarter last year. The profit of this item increased by 10.9 percent, to 142 million dollars.

AMD knew a lot less videochips than a year ago. The sales of AMD’s business gpu’s designs, declined by 17 percent. Especially for laptops declined the delivery, which in part can be explained by the Llano-introduction. A year ago, the graphic branch 33 million dollar profit, but in the last quarter that incurred a loss of $ 7 million.

In total, the turnover decreased from AMD slightly, from 1.65 billion to 1,57 billion dollars. The profit, however, increased; which amounted to 61 million dollars, while a year ago it would have 43 million dollars in the red recorded had to be.

AMD hopes that Llano in the coming quarters, continue to do well, while new processors for desktops and servers on those areas to share must win. AMD now officially announced that the new high-end processors for the desktop, the FX-series code-named Zambezi, in the following month to be delivered. Also the Opteron 6200, code-named Interlagos, then the factories leave. AMD expects revenue in the third quarter with a 10 per cent rise compared to last year.
