Studio behind Split/Second should close doors

Developer Black Rock Studios, responsible for games like Pure and Split/Second, need to close the doors. After a big layoff earlier this year, owner Disney the remaining forty employees wait told.

Disney invested earlier this week, a meeting in the town hall of Brighton, where Black Rock Studios is located. There were the remaining 40 employees to hear that the publisher, the doors of the studio will definitively close. The studio is known for racing games like Pure in 2008 and Split/Second (2010).

The just-dismissed employees are not throw in the towel and already have two new ontwikkelstudios founded. Roundcube Entertainment, headed by Nick Baynes, who was head of the Split/Second team. ShortRound Games, formed by a quartet that also in the old studio management positions. The closure did not come as a surprise. In may, Disney is already the largest part of the staff, the lane is outputted. Of the 140 employees, there were only 100 to leave. Back then the message was that the remaining workers would work on an unknown project. Disney does not clarify why the studio still need to close and what the status is of the last project of Black Rock.
