Sony: Vaio Z Light Peak comes at the end of July to Europe

Sony has the new thin Vaio Z officially announced. The model will get a 13,1″screen with a resolution of 1600×900 pixels, Core i7, dual-core and ssd of 256GB. The optional mediadock provides a AMD Radeon HD 6650M.

Monday dived already a few images of the new Sony Vaio, but Tuesday was followed by the official launch by Sony. The laptop is intended for the business market and has a Core i7-2620M-dual-core on 2.7 GHz runs, 8GB of ddr3 memory and a ssd with a storage capacity of 256GB. The native resolution of the 13,1″screen is 1600×900 pixels, but there is also a 1920×1080 variant to select via the Sony website. The screen is matte coated for reflections.

The notebook weighs 1,2 kilos and is 16,6 mm thick. Sony offers an optional Power Media Dock. This is a separate part with a dvd or blu-ray drive, that with an optical cable to the usb port of the laptop is connected. The Vaio Z because it contains Intel’s Light Peak i/o technology, but unlike Apple uses Sony usb instead of mini-displayport interface. Used also Sony is not the name Thunderbolt, as Apple here the trademark rights on has.

The Light Peak port supports usb 3.0 and there is also a usb 2.0 port is present. It also supports the Vaio wi-fi n, bluetooth 2.1+edr and hdmi. A 3g module is optional. The dock provides, except in the optical drive, an AMD Radeon HD 6650M, that the laptop in combination with the extra hdmi output to four screens simultaneously. The box also has an ethernet port, usb 2.0 interface and usb 3.0-Light Peak port, which allows the Vaio is connected.

With the standard-in lithium polymer battery keeps the laptop, according to Sony 7 hours, while the flat extra battery, which is under the model can be placed, there is still 7 more hours to add. At the end of July starts Sony the delivery in Europe. On the Dutch website of Sony, the new Vaio Z already, and the starting price that is mentioned is 1834,98 euro.
