Olympus has three new cameras in its PEN series announced, which use the micro 4/3 sensor and lens system. The camera has a 12.3-megapixelsensor on board and a renewed af-system.
All three cameras make use of an updated to 12.3-megapixel Live MOS sensor and an improved autofocus system that is Fast AF baptized. This system has a frequency of 120Hz, and according to Olympus at this time the fastest motor focus system that there is.
Olympus used in the camera’s a new version of its Truepic image processor, which is now in edition VI is reached. This includes support for iso values up to 12,800, and 1080i60 video recording in avhcd or mjpeg format.
The high-end model in the series is the Olympus EP-3. This has compared to its predecessor, the EP-2 has a built-in pop-up flash, a 3″oled touchscreen with a resolution of 614.000 pixels, an af-assist lamp, and a dedicated button for starting video recording. In addition, the handle can now be removed or may be replaced by a different model.
The E-PL3 is a bit slimmer and smaller than the EP-3. In contrast to the E-PL2, the E-PL3 is no built-in flash on board. However, Olympus will default to a single variant, which on the hot shoe slide. Also the lcd screen is also different; instead of a fixed copy, the E-PL3 a 3″lcd that can be tilted.

In addition to the cameras introduced Olympus, two new prime lenses: a 12mm f/2.0 and a 45mm f/1.8 model. In addition, the 14-42mm-kit lens is an update which mainly changes on a cosmetic level.
The new lenses should be available from late september, while the new micro 4/3 cameras this fall in the Dutch shelves.
