Lytro has announced the Illum-lichtveldcamera for sale in the Netherlands. The camera, a second generation lichtveldcamera that afterwards a different focal point can be chosen, given a price of 1599 euros.
The Illum was by Lytro in april for the Us market announced and is a further development of the first lichtveldcamera of the company. According to the manufacturer, the resolution of the camera 40 ‘megaray’, similar to a ‘flat’ 4 megapixelfoto, but with in-depth information in the form of vectordata. The first Lytro camera had to do with a resolution of 11 megaray.
The camera weighs 0,93 kg and has a 9.5-77,8 mm lens, 30-250mm equivalent, with a maximum aperture of f/2 over the entire 8x optical zoom range. The image processing is handled by a Snapdragon 801-soc. The adjustable 4″touch screen with 800×480 pixels and acts as a viewfinder. The lichtveldcamera is equipped with an sd-card reader, 802.11 n-wi-fi and a removable battery. The Illum was previously available in the U.S. for 1599 dollars; the camera is according to Lytro now available in the Netherlands for 1599 euro.
Lichtveldtechnologie offers photographers a number of new possibilities. So, photos can afterwards be focused, it is possible to perspective or the focal length to change, and it is possible photos in 3d to view.
