– Up chip designer ARM claims that the Mali-gpu in 18 months is just as powerful as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The designer, however, thinks still needs a lot of powermanagement to have to work to achieve his goal.

ARM argued against The Inquirer that it is currently working on the design of chips in 2016 come on the market. The company says, among other things, the graphical capabilities of the own Mali-gpu to work at it. The designer thinks the performance of Mali is still a lot to be able to screws and claims that the video chip within 18 months can compete with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Details on the plans gives the company however, did not. ARM wants the power of the gpu to increase because there is more “computing power” necessary for new user interfaces, gaming and tasks such as computational photography. The developer wants to say that “huge amounts of computational power in the hands of developers.”

The company, however, thinks that it cannot be limited to the raw processing power. In the design of embedded chips as Mali, ARM looked good to heat. “Battery technology is not developing as fast, and the further shrink of the processor core solves the verbruiksprobleem not necessarily,” says ARM. The solution must come from a combination of techniques, such as aggressive power management and multiple gpus that are switched on can be, where necessary, sets-up chip designer.
