The fundraising campaign for Haiti has hundreds of bags of clothing delivered. Last Saturday came more than twenty tweakers in Harderwijk together to make the collected stuff sorting and preparing to make.
The foundation WereldOuders, that, for more than 22 years in Haiti, pulled after the catastrophic earthquake on that island to the bell because there is a shortage of relief supplies. Therefore, organized Tweakers.net fund-raisers; on Saturday 23 January was the second-hand clothes were collected.
Both MyCom as Dynabyte put their shops in order to the clothing collection, and ensured that the collected goods to Harderwijk were transported. There is the storage Foundation VWOIC, where the stuff of tweakers in a T-Mobile sponsored container had to be stowed.
To prevent the volunteers from WereldOuders by our action, the work could no longer cope, called Tweakers.net visitors to help with the quicksorten of the clothing and the packing of the container. Last Saturday was the day and just before ten o’clock in the morning, appeared the first of nearly two dozen tweakers at the snow-covered shed in Harderwijk.
After most of the volunteers the location had been found and the proverbial ice was broken, it was time to get started. On various provisional table, the clothing is divided into categories such as baby and children’s clothing, men’s and women’s clothing and accessories. The MyCom collected goods were already on pallets to wait and the tweakers were still cold to the battle when a truck Dynabyte had appeared.
After this truck at a high rate, was drained, were the pockets to the correct table drag. This went pretty quickly because nearly anyone that clothing had returned, neatly in the bag had stated what the content was. Only a few had stuck in the formally correct but less useful description ‘clothing’.
On the table was the clothes unpacked, sorted and repacked. The freshly packed boxes were equipped with a sticker with the English description of the contents, and then prepared to be strategic in the container to be stopped.
At half past one everyone could enjoy a tasty lunch, which was at our disposal was made by the Cafeteria’s Switch from Loosdrecht, with as dessert a delicious croquette of snack bar The Crown from Harderwijk. After lunch, there had still far to be aangepoot to the rest of the bags to sort, but at two o’clock in the afternoon could make up the balance.
The result is what concerns us. We have over half a container with perfectly usable clothing retrieved. As soon as foundation WereldOuders the container is filled, it is to the Dominican Republic shipped. Of course, we try to pics of the arrival to arrange. We also have eight bags for this purpose useless clothes to the Salvation Army, and there were a total of eight boxes of winter clothes. Which is probably better in place in a wintry climate and it is thus ensured that soon the Balkans will be distributed. What we are also not to Haiti and sent in a cute, but totally inappropriate babymutsje and a romper body that, in fact, unprecedented tweakerwaardig, but also by a good washing machine not clean to get. For further details, we will save. Furthermore, we can confirm that the last memory of i-mode soon will leave the country.
We want to finally, once again express our appreciation for MyCom, Dynabyte, T-Mobile, The Link, The Crown, and especially for anyone who clothes has returned, and to everyone who in Harderwijk has helped. Thank you that you made possible!
