Sony Ericsson will use nfc in future Android smartphones. That has the Dutch chipleverancier NXP announced. Sony Ericsson wants the technology are probably going to use it for gaming on smartphones.
Sony Ericsson is the NXP PN65, a chip that the nfc functionality, the software and the encryption can handle. The same chip will also be used for devices that are compatible with the payment system Google Wallet. The Google Nexus S also includes a PN65.
The smartphonemaker however, with the chip new ways of gaming, says cto Jan Uddenfeldt in the announcement. It is unclear how that exactly is going to look. Sony Ericsson in Japan is a model with nfc announced, but used the technique further. Gamemaker Rovio used nfc in its game Angry Birds Magic, which was released for the Nokia smartphone C7.
The notice shall state that Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphones with nfc chips will be released. Because of the mention of gaming, it is obvious that there is a successor of PlayStation phone Xperia Play with nfc. There are still no rumors published about the successor of the Play, though it’s obvious that that is in development.
