Nokia has in the United Kingdom by IPCom filed patentzaak a 3g technology for emergency communications will be lost. What the ruling exactly means for the sale of current models of Nokia, is unclear.

IPCom is a German patentbedrijf that the rights to the technology for emergency communications in 2007 bought by Bosch. Then, the company has various phone makers in different countries for the sued.

The British High Council has determined that Nokia is infringing on the patent of IPCom, writes ZDNet. The implications of the judgment are totally uncertain. Nokia says the implementation of emergency communications over 3g networks to have changed in newer models. According to IPCom makes the new technique, however, still patent infringement. The High Council concluded that two phones infringed, but probably going to be two variants of the N96, a Symbian-smartphone, which in 2008 came out.

Moreover, Nokia is the choice of the technology from its phones to pick up. British and German providers have not deployed in their networks. It is unclear whether the technique in the Netherlands is used. It is not often that a patentzaak leads to a ruling of the supreme Council in a country; often the case is suitable before the court a judgment can do.
