Indiana Jones and The easiest way out

In the trailer of the newest Indiana Jones movie, rent the famous archaeologist by the jungle, while he is pursued by nazis. Psimonk has doubts about the game.

The most disappointing film of 2008? That is an easy one: Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The movie has a bad story, poorly developed bad guys, predictable plot twists, provocative ‘comedy’ scenes – think of Shia LaBeouf, as a Tarzan, swinging on vines between the monkeys and as the icing on the cake: aliens. When I go to the X-Files wanted to watch, I went to I want To Believe. It is not the first time that George Lucas is a childhood heroes franchise for me has wasted. Indeed, I purpose in a science-fiction franchise in a galaxy, far, far away.

Fortunately, there are alternatives that are at least as fun, if not better. While everyone agrees that, in any case, Star Wars: Episode One and the first half of Episode Two, to put it mildly, of dubious quality, was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed last year my SW-heart are actually faster to do it right. And that happened apparently to many, because the game sold a thick 5.7 million copies, if you the different platformversies at each other. Also about The Force Unleashed, the opinions diverge, but I share the negative criticism of the game. For me, it was The Force Unleashed is a good, “spiritual” successor to Jedi Knight, and that was more than I had dared dream.

Unfortunately provides LucasArts for me, not in a game alternative for the replacement of my last terrible Indiana Jones movie experience. Instead of finally have a book open to do about the long-awaited “next-gen” Indiana Jones, announced Activision and LucasArts recently, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings… for the Wii, the PSP and the DS!

I learned that this new Indy game focuses on a younger gamer. Yes, as far as I was though. If you have the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 so explicitly skipped in a millions-selling franchise like Indiana Jones, point the arrows clearly not the man in his twenties with money, slash: the adult gamer.
The trailer that was released to promote the game is also misleading. The slick CGI movie shows a kind of ‘Best of Indiana Jones, the famous archaeologist through jungles and temples rent, hunted by the nazis. So we see our man with the hat and the whip. But switch to in-game images of the Wii version and the version of the portables, and you’re standing again with both feet on the ground. I’m not going to say that Staff of Kings is a flutspel is, the only nothing – absolutely nothing – with the next-gen Indy game that I found on the E3 in 2006.

The strange thing is that the techniques in Star Wars The Force Unleashed, such as Digital Molecul Matter and Euphoria, also in the new Indy game would be sitting. The techdemo that was given of the new Indiana Jones game where our hero, the villains on top of a tram in San Francisco knock gave – went around the world. What is there with that code and the corresponding game happened? That new, exciting techniques spectacular gameplay can deliver, proved to be The Force Unleashed. Why that success is not built with a title that is the same technique houses? Or has George Lucas in all his wisdom decided that, just like the last film, also a new Indy game is simple and mainly for kids must be the intention? It gives to think.

Indiana Jones and The Staff of Kings is a success. But it is not the Indy game where I – and many peers with me – have been waiting for. Which is a pity. Very Unfortunate.
