“GfK: number of people with smartphones continues to increase substantially”

The number of the Dutch population owns a smartphone continues to increase substantially. Reports that GfK on the basis of own research. Now have ten million Dutch people have a smartphone, the same as that of a laptop.

The number of people with a smartphone in the Netherlands is rising according to the research of GfK still with about 16 percent per year. This makes the smartphone almost the most used ‘computer’ in the Netherlands: there are about as many people who have a laptop, but that number is growing barely more.

The possession of a desktop take off: there are, according to GfK still 7.9 million people with a desktop, which is nearly 5 percent less than last year. Meanwhile, there are equal number of people with a tablet as with a fixed pc. The number of tabletbezitters took last year, with about 16 percent, from 6.8 million to 7.9 million. That is a decent increase, but the increase was between 2012 and 2013 much higher: around 58 percent. Only older people buy more of a tablet, finds the research.

In the same research, GfK also the use of social media under the microscope, but are according to the research, no major shifts. Only the young are in great numbers switched from social media: the number of young people between 13-17 years with a Facebook account decreased from 87 to 81 percent, while the number of users of Instagram, also Facebook, among adolescents correctly increased from 34 to 48 percent.
