Boeing has a patent received on a system that is designed to reduce the impact of shock waves of an explosion to reduce. The patent US-patent 8.981.261 has the resounding title ‘Method and system for shockwave attenuation via electromagnetic arc’.

Despite the visual comparison that Cnet on his blog makes with force fields from science, the system may not be physical objects stop, but it sent shock waves by, for example, an explosion or neighboring weft are caused.

The system should catch on as soon as a sensor is a shock wave detects, and then a booggenerator a small area know to be ionized by a plasmaveld to generate between the protecting purpose, and the explosion. To that field to be able to generate, the system uses lasers, electricity, and microwaves. The plasmaveld would in temperature, density and/or composition different from the surroundings, creating a buffer against the shock waves would arise.

The patent describes furthermore that ‘such a buffer, the energy density of the shock wave may be partially reduces by a second medium in the path of the continuing shock wave to create, that a part of the shock wave reflects, refracts, absorbs, and deflects’.

Due to the system’s heat generates and the air ionizes, it is useless to set a goal for a long time in this manner to envelop. The entire patent is read at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
