Belgian government introduces do not call list

The Belgian government is a ‘do not call’list to introduce. Persons who are on that list have been placed, may not be called by call centres. Companies risk a fine of up to 20,000 euros if they are people I call.

Minister Paul Magnette of Consumer affairs shall establish a list mandatory, reports The Newspaper. The law that the obligation may need to after the summer in force. Belgians can subscribe to the list, and then they have no call centers more on the line.

The fine for violations shall not apply to call centers, but for the companies whose name they call. Call centres are often located in foreign countries, such as Poland and Morocco. Belgium already had a kind of do not call list, but that database, under the name of Robinson, gold only for companies that joined an umbrella organization were connected. This proved to be not effective.

In the Netherlands, is one such initiative already taken earlier under the name do not Call Registry. OPTA has already some times fines handed out for ignoring the registry. Complaints about unwanted phone calls since the introduction of the registry, however, decreased. Meanwhile in the Dutch list of more than 5.5 million phone numbers.
