Apple has applied for a patent for a system that an iOS user other allows people to meet based on common interests. The system is able to get the required data from the iPhone or iPad.

The company from Cupertino describes the system, that the name Buddy Finder has been, as an ad hoc network system that works with content and location. It is determined which iOS users may be of interest on the basis of user data on the mobile device, and whether potential candidates are close. They can then contact to be made with a match through the software. Join the vriendenzoeksysteem is voluntary; users can self on and off.

The Buddy Finder determines preferences on the basis of data, such as which songs are downloaded, which sites are visited and what images there are on the iOS device. Users do not need preferences.

The patent application does not mean that Apple’s social networking service in iOS will process. The company has in the past few years many patents filed that never in the software are published. Possible want Apple using patents in order to be stronger compared to the competition, that similar ideas might develop.
