Wii developers should be ashamed

Nintendo recently came up with an official press release in which it is more or less apologized for the fact that other spellenmakers until now what ‘less successful’ Wii games were made. In other words, only the Wii games from Nintendo itself are purchased by the gamer, the rest will remain in the shelves.

I chargeer, of course. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games from Sega is already weeks at the top in the top 10 of best selling Wii titles, and puts even the holy Wii-grail Super Mario Galaxy to the crown. And MySims from Electronic Arts is, according to a presentation three million times over the counter gone. Not bad for a simple Animal Crossing clone. For the rest, however, cry out with the cap on.

Many mainstream Wii owners buy lwa berhaupt no game with the purchase of their new game console since Wii Sports, it’s bundled. And if you get a second or third title is bought, it is often Wii Play, Super Mario Galaxy or Braintraining; all titles of Nintendo. Yet it is strange that Nintendo has the record for the so-called third-party developers; spellenmakers that are independent of Nintendo operate. Nintendo states that as the creators of the Wii hardware to get a better insight, the Wii titles automatically better and more fun and also better to sell.

Or that commercial lwa le assurance is maintained, is still quite the question, but that Nintendo has the record for spellenmakers which in most cases is just mediocre junk deliver, that does the eyebrows frown. Nintendo would be that third-party developers understand a proverbial kick in the ass. Or they are using a megaphone in the ears must sound the horn with the words: Do Better Your Best!

There is since the introduction of the Wii a lot too easygoing manner with the possibilities of the new console. It resulted in a stream of shallow partygames that Wii Sports are trying to do and forced attempts traditional games at any cost to the Wii. Lows there were plenty of Balls of Fury obligatory port-numbers Far Cry and Splinter Cell: Double Agent and half-hearted sporttitels.

That it indeed, proved recently the colorful and eye-catching Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’Treasure from Capcom. Yes, Capcom is a Japanese company and will therefore be very early on a Wii developer unit in the house have had, but what the developer especially has done is taken the time for a unique and innovative product. The Wii controller of this witty adventure that is reminiscent of the Monkey Island point-and-click adventures of yesteryear is sparkling, surprising and at the same time brilliantly simple design. The puzzles are fresh and stimulating, and the applications of the Wii-mote to be in a fun and highly enjoyable way ge lwa mplementeerd. The shaking of a tree, the cutting of wood, a chime, a baby asleep, rocking, a worm on a vishaakje do, levers to convert, blocks, stacking and so on… the controls feel natural and that makes this colourful game, only better.

Capcom with Zack & Wiki the other third-party spellenmakers merciless to see. What now, the Wii has not yet fathomed? Capcom can it read and write! Unfortunately commercial success but all too often not hand in hand with quality: Zack & Wiki sells only small numbers in the Netherlands. Quite a shame, because the game deserves a better fate. Certainly the more serious gamers who are all the stars in Super Mario Galaxy already have achieved, are of themselves obligatory Capcoms cartoonish jewel in-house. And all the game developers that just can’t understand why their Wii titles don’t sell, also have Zack & Wiki to purchase… as a study!
