On 6, 7 and 8 June was in Hardenberg, the seventeenth and last Regroup was held. In the Hall there was made place for more than 500 gamers, 6 beamerschermen, a lounge and a stage. Regroup 17 had to rip & vip motto, and the organization pulled all the stops for his latest lanparty a memorable.
Regroup is originated from a Quake-clan “Panic Zaaiende Gypsies’ called. The clan organizes since 1998 arranged a lanparty. The first lanparty’s were only intended for the PZZ-members, but gradually the group grew and were the lanparty’s also by non-PZZ-clan members visited, so that there is gone had to be to a larger location. The workplace of one of the founders of the Panic Zaaiende Gypsies had to make place for a rented school room, where for 25 persons place was, but after 4 lanparty’s was again too small. The organization had again a new location in the search, which in Amsterdam was found, but after some lanparty’s was also this place become too small.
The Panic Zaaiende Gypsies wanted it even bigger, and after a name change to Regroup Lan Events was annually a lanparty organized with space for more and more gamers. So there was on the tenth lanparty, Regroup X, place for up to 650 gamers. The peak was in 2005 achieved, when more than 1,000 gamers participated in Regroup 13.
Within 5 days after the registration for the last Regroup was opened, had already a hundred gamers more signed up than there are places available. The large amount of signups for the organization reason to the number of places to increase to 528 places. Eventually have to Regroup 17 more than 700 gamers entered. To Regroup in the right mood to close, there were a number of regulars in the limelight, and during the gamecompetities could there be a battle for various prizes, including 3d monitors, housings and power supplies.
Regroup 17 is really the last Regroup organized, thus, it became clear. The organization has to press every year a lanparty to organize. After Regroup 16, 15, 16 and 17 december, 2006, has the organization long thought that a new Regroup was to be kept. Eventually, it was decided to have a last lanparty to organize and popping quit.
Every visitor got at entry, a goodie bag with two gamemagazines, a computer magazine, a pen, a mousepad and a lanyard. Also got every gamer a golden wristband, V. I. P. imprint.
