Author BioShock closes Irrational Games and start new studio

Irrational Games-studiobaas and co-founder Ken Levine has announced that the ontwikkelstudio will cease to exist in its current form. Levine starts with fifteen members of his current team to a new, much smaller ontwikkelstudio, but remains for 2K to work.

According to Levine, it means the reform to a much smaller studio, the end of Irrational Games, as is read in by the developer-written blog post on the website of Irrational Games. This comes after seventeen years of an end to the existence of the studio. Levine continues, with the new, smaller studios will be active for publisher Take-Two Interactive, but gives little information about what game they will make.

But it is clear that Levine and his new studio, in any case, not more will be involved in the BioShock franchise. Levine carries the franchise over to 2K Games, but more information about the future of BioShock is not there yet. A part of the current developers from Irrational Games to remain involved in the series; for the employees for whom there is no place in the new studio of Levine will be tried to find a place in one of the other studios of Take-Two Interactive. May take one of that studio’s development of a next BioShock game.

Irrational Games was established in 1997 by Ken Levine, Jonathan Chey, and Robert Cheese in incorporated. After the studio well-known titles like System Shock 2, Tribes: Vengeance and SWAT 4 had completed was Irrational in 2006, was purchased by 2K Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. For that the publisher made the Boston-based studio BioShock. The successful shooter got a sequel with BioShock 2 and not Irrational Games, but 2K Marin was developed. The third game in the BioShock series, in the spring of 2013 published BioShock: Infinite, was, however, back of the hand of Levine and his team, and is now also the latest game from Irrational Games.
