Deezer on the HomePod
The Netherlands and Belgium; are still on the roll to get streaming on the HomePod. From now on you can stream with Deezer account from the following countries: France, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Japan. In other countries you will have to wait a little longer. There is also no HomePod support for podcasts, audiobooks and live radio yet. But we are getting a step closer to the ideal of being able to use all conceivable music services on the HomePod. Sonos says it supports more than 130, including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, Google Play, SoundCloud and TuneIn. The HomePod speaker has been working with more music services since the fall of 2020, but the choice is still not huge. You're actually best off with Apple's own music service.
If you are a Deezer subscriber in one of the listed countries, you can 'Hey Siri'. to play your favorite music. You must have an active, paid account and have the app on your device. you also need to connect your account to the HomePod. For example, you can use & lsquo; Hey Siri, play my Flow & rsquo; to hear a mix of songs you have previously listened to. Operating with voice commands must as usual in English, because Siri on the HomePod does not yet understand Dutch. If you haven't set Deezer as your default music service, Siri commands will also require you to add that you want to use Deezer.
Also listen lossless music
Of course, the HomePod gives you access to Deezer's full music catalog of songs, artists, albums, favorites and playlists. You can let the HomePod know that you don't like a song, that you want to repeat, or skip to the next song. If you have Deezer HiFi, you can hear songs in higher quality, something that is not yet possible with Apple Music.
Set Deezer as the default music service
Apple has released an API with iOS 14.3 to make music services available on the HomePod. The American Pandora was the first of the party, Deezer is now the second major music service to use it. Spotify has not yet announced that it is working on the API, even though it has been available for a few months. Spotify did file a complaint with the EU that they are locked out on the HomePod.
Deezer has used the official API and that means that you can also set this music service as a default on the HomePod ( mini). You should also make sure that you have the latest version of the Deezer app on your iPhone and have updated the device itself to iOS 14.3 or newer.
