Interest-free days: up to 50

Interest: 21.40% (purchasing of goods) 24.90% (cash withdrawals)

0.5% general bonus, reimbursement to be exact, applies to “everything”, whether you shop at ICA, COOP or shop at Ikea or HM. The bonus also applies to fuel so the card gets a top spot for petrol cards as well. As well as a full 4% at the electronics company Komplett.se

No annual fee and no fee (if the invoice is sent via Email) on a credit card with such good bonuses is really impressive!

Max the bonus!

Many retail chains and most grocery stores have some type of bonus system, such as Stammis at ICA, Pluskund at Willys, also Hemköp and COOP have free bonus / membership programs. The Cirkle K gasoline chain also has a free membership program called Extra.

So maximize your credit card bonus in the best way by applying for membership (usually works at checkout), then you can easily link your membership, when you are at checkout on each chain, to Komplett’s credit card … all of a sudden you have Double bonus – Perfect!

Complete Banks Mastercard is an obvious credit card for most people.

The bonus or really the refund because you get money back in arrears, this refund can either be used when you shop on Komplett.se or you can set the money against the monthly invoice on the card – thanks for the nice service!

The only downside we can find is the relatively “low” bonus ceiling, max 500 SEK / month and 2000 SEK / year, if you deal a lot with credit cards then it can be a good idea to get another credit card with a good bonus, if you shop a lot online then re: member flex is definitely the best credit card, a very good complement.

Extra

Obvious winners will be Bank Norwegians VISA card!

Bank Norwegian

✔️ Only 1.75% in currency exchange fee

✔ 0.5% bonus on everything you shop, everywhere

Credit limit: SEK 100,000

Apply here! ∙️The Norwegian card has been one of the best travel credit cards for several years. Sometimes they have been challenged by other card publishers but these have changed the terms or disappeared from the market.

Bank Norwegian has changed the terms for bonuses and also introduced bonus ceilings, in Sweden – but not for international trips!

  • No annual fee.
  • No fee with E-invoice (paper invoice SEK 45).
  • No withdrawal fee, neither in Swedish ATMs nor foreign ATMs.
  • Low fee of 1.75% when withdrawing or buying in another currency, so-called currency exchange fee.
  • Grocery insurance, provides the equivalent of one month’s consumption of groceries if you become sick or unemployed.
  • Best of all: Even interest-free days on cash withdrawals, thanks for the fine service Bank Norwegian!

NOTE Choose between CachPoints or CachBack – Temporarily, due to the pandemic, Bank Norwegian has opened the opportunity for customers to choose between CachPoints (save together for cheaper air travel – used later)!) and CachBack (earned points give money back to the card). Read more about how it works on this information page.

If you are traveling in other countries you will need cash (if you have not bought an all-inclusive trip now and do not leave the resort). Cach is King worldwide, Sweden is the exception.

Save up for the trip! You get 0.5% bonus on everything on purchases with the card (except stamps, money transactions and the like). You can then use that bonus to buy air tickets at Norwegian Air and there you get an additional 4-10% bonus!

It should be mentioned that although the Bank Norwegian card has no fees, other than exchange fees, when you withdraw cash, some countries have fees when you withdraw money from ATM’s. For example, the popular Thailand where it costs 220 Baths (SEK 65-70) with a foreign credit card, does not make small withdrawals in Thailand.

You should always have more than one credit card, from different banks, preferably a VISA and a Mastercard. A very important thing to keep in mind is that all credit cards in Sweden have restrictions on cash withdrawals, eg a maximum of SEK 5000 per withdrawal and a maximum of SEK 10,000 per day or similar.

So there are several good reasons to get another credit card before the trip, may be needed both on a trip in Sweden and in other countries. Which credit card should you have as a backup for Bank Norwegian’s card?

Second place for Best Credit Card on the trip is Komplett Bank Mastercard!

Kompett Bank’s credit card is also a real card for traveling abroad – not the best but easily takes second place after Bank Norwegian.

  • No annual fee.
  • No withdrawal fee, neither in Swedish ATMs nor foreign ATMs.
  • Low fee of 1.75% when withdrawing or buying in another currency, so-called currency exchange fee.
  • However, higher interest rates on cash withdrawals, and cash you will need abroad.

The credit card issued by Komplett Bank is so unusually good that it is in the top 2 in almost any category you are looking at.

In addition to the second place here among the travel cards, we appoint Komplett Bank’s card as both the best bonus card and the best food card, also works perfectly as a petrol card since the bonus also applies to gasoline and diesel.

We have written a longer article on petrol cards , so we only address a shorter summary here.

With the card from Komplett Bank you get 0.5% bonus which is about 7.5 öre per liter, you can sometimes get more with other cards but the really nice thing about Komplett Bank’s credit card with a petrol discount is that it applies to all stations – even unmanned!

A regular petrol card issued from one of the gasoline chains gives a discount on their stations, not at any other chain’s stations, understandable but boring.

With a card from Komplett Bank, it doesn’t matter if you think of Cirkle K, OKQ8, Shell or any other station, even if the station is manned or unmanned, you always get bonuses!

If you live next door to an OKQ8 or other garage, it may be an idea to apply for a card from them, read more about the gasoline card in the article Petrol card, which gives the best discount?

Which credit card provides the best discount and benefits when shopping for food?

The best credit card when shopping for food will be Komplett Bank, the card provides 0.5% refund on all food you shop for, regardless of which grocery store you shop at!

Of course, one would think that the best option would be a card issued by one of the larger food chains such as ICA or COOP, but that is not the case at all. Their cards have soaring annual fees.

Then it is considerable better finances to apply to them and become a free member / bonus customer, without asking for any expensive credit card.

Most large retail chains have some type of bonus system, for example you can become a Bonus Customer at Hemköp, Pluskund at Willys, Stammis at ICA or whatever your grocery store uses for the name of their membership.

Then you can easily link your membership, when you are at the checkout on each chain, to the bank cards and credit cards you want to use.

So, link your card from Komplett Bank to the store’s free membership, flips and you have both offers and the bonus from the store AND from the credit card – Simple – Easy – Perfect!

COOP is a bit “more bookish”, with them you have to use (drag) the membership card every time (and at COOP it costs SEK 100 to become a member).

We have addressed it before, Komplett Bank has a relatively low “ceiling” for the bonus, you can get a maximum of 500 k / month and SEK 2000 / year. If you like to buy electronics on Komplett.se you have 4% bonus, then it is quite easy to hit the bonus ceiling. So it may be an idea to look for additional bonus cards, for grocery purchases both Everydaycard and Norwegian Bank’s credit cards work.

The credit card from Everydaycard is also a very good food card!

Everydaycard

✔ 1% bonus at grocery stores and gas stations

✔ 0.5-1% on all other purchases

✔️ Low interest rates

⁇ 2% in fee for cash withdrawals, minimum SEK 40

⁇ Annual fee SEK 195

Annual fee: SEK 0 first year, then SEK 195 / year

Fees: SEK 0 with E-invoice

Interest-free days: up to 55

Interest rate: 10.05% Effective interest rate: 13.55%

Credit limit: SEK 50,000

Apply here! ∙️

Everydaycard is a credit card with a good bonus aimed primarily at grocery stores and gas stations – 1% bonus at all stores and stations!

Other purchases give 0.5% bonus, you can get up to 1% on these as well, it requires SEK 20,000 in sales over a period (6 months), then the bonus ticks up half a percent during that period.

The bonus is paid directly to the card twice a year, in May and November, it is also the period that is counted for the higher bonus above.

A little complicated? Yes, it must be acknowledged that they could have made it a little easier, but it works.

Disadvantages then? Yes, there are some. The credit card has an annual fee of SEK 195, a fairly low fee but still a fee, however the card is free the first year. Neither card to be used for cash withdrawals, at least SEK 40 in fee.

Order credit cards from Everydaycard here! ∙️ Bubbler: Norwegian Banks has introduced a free insurance called on their credit card Grocery Insurance, an insurance that provides a monthly consumption of “daily goods” (basically what you shop at the grocery store) if you become unemployed or on sick leave.

The credit card from Norwegian gets some extra plus points for that insurance! Here you can read more about the Grocery Insurance.
