You have to figure out how it was able to attack on the synagogue in the hall, says Max Privorozki, Chairman of the Jewish community in Halle. He sees several reasons for the growing anti-Semitism.

Deutsche Welle: It is when the emotional dust to settle, you see things clearer. How do you see the attack on a synagogue today?

Max Privorozki: The emotional waves to digest yet. Many guests and representatives of the press come to us. The only Positive in this tragic event, the reactions of ordinary people are. I got tears when reading E-Mails often. Within two days we got 900 emails in which solidarity was expressed. The was unbelievers, the support that came from the heart – of Christians, Muslims,.

You feel safe now?

Now all the Jewish facilities are guarded round-the-clock very well. Initially, it was not even me that police officers were in the synagogue, because not all of them knew me by sight. Most of all, I’m afraid, a kind of campaign, as once in the Soviet Union, when planting Corn or alcoholism wanted to fight.

What do you mean?

A campaign, if it continues as it is now, can cause negative moods. Now we have a very high level of security. I think that protection during Church services and events is necessary, but I don’t know if this has to be at night. This can lead to a negative reaction. I have already read in the comments that synagogues and mosques would be guarded, not churches, however.

Recently, a study was published, according to which every fourth German anti-Semite think. Do you feel that?

Anti-Semitism is growing really strong. From my point of view, the reasons are different. One of the most important the wrong policies of certain power circuits, which show the attitude towards Israel and the Jews could be any is. On the one hand, it means that the security of Israel is part of Germany’s raison d’etre, and on the other hand, anti-supported Israeli resolutions in the United Nations, criticizing the Israeli action in the Palestinian territories. Germany has such supports, or to abstain from voting.

That is, they criticize the government in Berlin…

Yes, in particular the Federal Foreign office. All of this makes a depressing impression on me. Regardless of the terrorist attack or incident, where I stood in front of the synagogue, and as a “killer of children” abused was. In the Soviet Union, I was accustomed to the fact that the anti-Semitism in everyday life was constantly present – you could be offended and odd. So there is something in many countries. But the main problem is, in my view, a wrong policy towards Israel, which may provoke anti-Semitism.

What are the reasons for anti-Semitism in Germany?

The fact that many people have come to us from countries where anti-Semitism is a doctrine of state policy, as in Syria and Arab countries is undoubtedly. I’m not criticizing the fact that people came from understandable reasons, to Germany. But the task of the country has left it, is to ensure that negative impacts are minimized. This is not done enough.

What forms of anti-Semitism, they were confronted in person before the stroke?

I saw in the hall an anti-Semitic Demonstration by Arabs in the vicinity of the synagogue. Also, I’ve seen an anti-American Demonstration in the Central square of the city, on which a man gave a speech, the money Hamas collects. Anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism are frequently found in one and the same people.

Have you been confronted with anti-Semitism of the ultra-right?

In any case. In the hall there is a small but very aggressive group of 20 to 30 people meets regularly on Mondays for a Demonstration. The Ultra-right, who make no secret of their theories of a global conspiracy, especially Jewish are. I listened to some of their Speeches. One of their theories is that there is supposedly a kind of capital that rules the world. It is clear what is meant. Accordingly, the American government was under the influence of this capital, the weak politicians of the Western countries would support the Ukrainian fascists and, therefore, Russia was the only power that could save everyone.

The German authorities estimate the anti-Semitism among ultra-right?

Yes. The authorities underestimate the danger posed by radical circles, both right and left.

What is the most important lesson from the terrorist attack of Halle for Germany?

Germany has for years saved on something you may not save, and education. One of the main Lessons is to find out how it could happen that a 27-Years old to a Monster. It is important to understand and draw conclusions from it.
