The German MEP Manfred Weber has warned the Hungarian Prime Minister Orban again in front of a exclusion of his party from the European people’s party. All options are open, said Weber of the DW.

Manfred Weber, the EPP summit in Bucharest

Manfred Weber, a leading candidate of the European people’s party (EPP) for the presidency of the European Commission, has presented at the EPP summit in Bucharest, his Vision of Europe. At the Meeting, regional and local decision-makers in the run-up to the European elections, Weber once again went the distance for the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Next Wednesday, the EPP Board of management shall decide on the further handling of Orban’s Fidesz party. Several EPP parties have called for the exclusion or the temporary suspension of the party of Orban’s.

Weber praised the use of the Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis for a common European policy. The Romanian social Democrats (PSD), which are for two years in government, he criticized mainly because of their attitude towards the Romanian candidate Laura with this for the office as a European attorney General. A candidate, the Christian social Europe politicians, who enjoy the full support of the EPP. Because of the present government of Romania was in the European decision-making process in the Background. Weber no longer regretted the fact that some EU member States respected due to the lack of control mechanisms by European values. He wanted to change this, he should be the President of the EU Commission.

Two other embassies Weber from Bucharest, sent to Europe: The Turkey of today don’t fit in the EU. As Commission Chairman, he wanted to end the accession negotiations with Ankara. And: Europe is incomplete without the countries of the Western Balkans.

Manfred Weber: I want to fight for a Europe which the people perceive as your Europe.

Deutsche Welle: you have in your Bucharest the anti-speech-European attitude of the Romanian social Democrats criticised. What about the PPE? The risk is not too large to lose the moral votes in their electorate in order to get the Hungarian votes of the Fidesz, the adopt continuously from the values of the EPP and the EU?

Manfred Weber, The EPP is the political family of values, beliefs, basic. We, as the European people’s party, Christian Democrats, the founding fathers of the European Union, de Gasperi, Schuman, Adenauer. This is our heritage on which we stand, and it is clear that someone is with us can only be a member of, if he represents these values, you also have lives and implement in everyday life. That is why we are now with the Fidesz, Viktor Orban, in a difficult process of dialogue. As before, all options are for the next Wednesday on the table. It is to prove to Fidesz, and to show that the desire for common with each other is further provided.

What needs to be changed in the European Union? Trust in the European institutions, the EU Commission seems to be dwindling.

One aspect of this lack of confidence is safe, the national policy measures are too often pass the buck to Brussels that national policy covered to often their own failings, by making Europe. This is unfair. We must be fair and honest in its dealings with Europe. We must treat Europe’s successes, because a Lot of things work quite well.

The second, for me, this is very important: We need to connect Europe with the citizens, again, to reconcile, to the European citizens. Therefore, it is to me in my conversations is important to listen. People need to realize that Europe is in the first row and not for any structures. I want to fight for a Europe which the people perceive as your Europe.

You were not a candidate but a citizen, a politician demands that the voters ‘ voice: what would you expect from him in return, so he gets your vote?

I would probably be allowed to ask the question, whether the candidate is convinced that we can prevail together as Europeans in today’s world – with all the national Pride we all have. If the candidate gives me a positive answer, then I would support him probably.

Finally, a question about the Russia policy of the EU: it Is a thriving European economy, with Russian support is so important, that Europe is closing in front of derailments in Russia sometimes the eyes?

Left Russia under Vladimir Putin, unfortunately, the common value basis, in Ukraine and in Syria, with misinformation and Fake News that we experience, the build-up of military capacity on the Eastern border of the EU. Europe must react to it. I fully support the European sanctions against Russia, and I am also of the opinion that the Nord Stream-2 project should be stopped. It is a political and not economic project. In times of such difficult negotiations with Russia, we should not carry out such projects.
