Rebensburg wins world championship silver in the giant slalom

At the Alpine skiing world Cup in Are, you must be Viktoria rebensburg in the giant slalom, only the Slovakian Petra Vlhova beaten. In the Final stretch the 29-Year-old German will forgive their Chance at Gold.

It took a moment, until Viktoria rebensburg was able to enjoy your silver medal at the world Championships giant slalom in Are, Sweden. With about three tenths of a second, the 29-year-old German was in the final slope, in the last gates, you lost time and was at the end of 0.14 seconds behind the new world champion Petra Vlhova from Slovakia. Bronze went to the favored American Mikaela Shiffrin. In the first passage the vine and had to be submitted in difficult conditions with Wind and soft snow, the best time.

Fourth medal at major events

“All in All, I won silver,” said rebensburg after the race in the ZDF: “The last wave was so good for me. It seems that I’ve left da, but quite nice, a lot of time.” The 29-Year-old gave the German Team, however, the first medal at the Championships in Are. For Rebensburg it was to Olympic Gold in 2010, the Olympic Bronze in 2014 and world championship silver four years ago, her fourth precious metal in an Alpine event.

Not much was missing for the first German world champion in the giant slalom after a ten years break. In 2009, Kathrin Hölzl had triumphed in Val d’isere. Last world champion from Germany, the remains of Maria Höfl-Riesch with combination of Gold in 2013.
