Farewell to Schalke legend Rudi Assauer

Rudi Assauer was a maker and soul of the FC Schalke 04. Fans and football greats have proven the long-term, early February, late Manager of the last honor. The funeral service was broadcast into the stadium.

The club had organized the funeral ceremony in the Priory Church of St. Urbanus Gelsenkirchen-Buer. Among the many mourners of the centuries-trainer Huub Stevens, managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke of Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness and many of the Schalke UEFA-Cup winner 1997 appeared.

Assauer was on 6. February, died at the age of 74 years at the consequences of Alzheimer’s disease. On Tuesday, he was in the closest family circle, and in the presence of some long-standing companions in Herten. “It speaks to Rudi that so many people accompany to his last,” said the Schalke Boss Clemens Tönnies.

Schalke 04 have invited his Fans and the mourning of a society by the memorial to Bratwurst and beer in the Arena. There was broadcast on the video cube, the exhibition.

Uli Hoeness paid tribute before his “really good friend” at Sport1: “What has awarded him, was his straightforwardness. What he had promised, he has adhered to also. He was a man with a hard exterior but a very soft core.”
