Investigative journalist in Ghana shot

The Journalist was involved in the uncovering of a major corruption scandal at the Ghana football Association. Furthermore, the Association’s President stumbled. Now a member of Parliament for the act is held responsible.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale had been shot by the Unknown in the back of the neck and the chest, as if he had been on Wednesday evening in the capital, Accra, on the way home, a police spokesman announced this Thursday.

Hussein-Suale belonged to a Reporter-Team of the award-winning journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. The unveiling led television report on corruption in Ghanaian football in the middle of last year, among other things, to the suspension and the subsequent resignation of the Ghanaers Kwesi Nyantakyi as the President of the football Association, GFA, and as a member of the FIFA Council.

In the short message service Twitter, Anas responded to the deadly attack: “Sad news, but we will not be Silenced. Rest in peace, Ahmed.”

He makes the members of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong for the death of his colleagues is responsible. These have published photos and the residential district of Hussein-Suale on television and called for him to attack. “If you see him, break his the ears,” said
Agyapong with aggressive voice in the live broadcast, the recording is on the Internet. “Whatever happens, I’m going to pay for it.”

Suspicion of corruption

The Association GFA has been dissolved due to the affair of the government. Seven referees and line judges have been blocked because of corruption suspicion from the African continental Confederation, CAF for several years.

In the documentary, the Hussein-Suale had worked, was a functionary Nyantakyi, among other things, as he promised, to against high payments to influence politicians. Another scene shows him at the adoption of a cash payment of the equivalent of 60,000 euros. In addition, he is said to have eleven million dollars for the placement of government contracts required.

Ghana’s national media Supervisory authority condemned the act and called for a thorough investigation by the police. “It will be in the national interest to arrest the perpetrators of this crime,” said Commission spokesman Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo.

The 34-year-old Hussein-Suale had filed before his death, lodged a complaint with the police after photos of his face were published in the television.

Violence against journalists in Ghana is rare. Since 1992, the Committee to protect journalists (CPJ) has reported a further murder. In the ranking of press freedom by “reporters without borders” evidenced by Ghana in 23rd place, the best place of an African country, and only eight places behind Germany.
