The athletics world governing body IAAF to the IOC and WADA hard. Since 2015 due to Doping suspended Russian Federation is not for the time being pardoned, because the conditions are not yet met.

The world athletics Association IAAF maintains the suspension of Russia. This, the IAAF Council decided in Monte Carlo. In the Wake of the scandal around widespread Doping in Russia, the IAAF had the athletics Association RUSAF on 13. November 2015 locked. The IAAF justified the extension of the lock so that two essential conditions have not been met for a pardon: access to the Moscow laboratory analysis and the storage of data and Doping samples, as well as the so far non-payment of the bill for the work of the IAAF Task Force to the Russian doping scandal in the amount of approximately three million dollars.

More consistent than the IOC and WADA

The IAAF is shown in the workup of the Russian doping scandal in their attitude significantly more consistent than the world Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOC and the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) had taken a few days after the winter of 2018 in Pyeongchang games without conditions. WADA ended in mid-September, the suspension of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency RUSADA, even though the criteria had not been fulfilled yet completely.

The German athletics Federation (DLF), welcomed the hard line of the world Federation.”The decision of the IAAF is consistent, because serious changes in relation to the attitude of Russia to the Anti-Doping policy since the last decision,” said DLV President Jürgen Kessing. The clear attitude was “in the spirit of the athletes and the credibility”.

Under a neutral flag

The last Russian athletics Team at a major international event was launched at the 2015 world Championships in Beijing. Then jumper Darya Klischina took part in the only Russian under a neutral flag for 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. A year later started at the world Championships in London 19 Russians as a neutral athlete, at the European Championships in Berlin were 72.
