Ex-Boxing world champion Markus Beyer is dead

At the age of 47 years, the former professional Boxing world died champion Markus Beyer in Berlin. A total of three times he won the championship belt in the super middle weight.

Two months after the accidental death of Graciano Rocchigiani, the German Boxing was shaken by another death news: The former professional Boxing world champion Markus Beyer, as today it became known on Monday, after a short, serious illness in a Berlin hospital died. Beyer was only 47 years old.

As an Amateur, a native of Sachse, won 235 of his 274 fights. In 1996, Beyer changed to the pros in the Boxstalls of Promoter Wilfried Sauerland. After nearly three years and 17 Fights of 1.76 meters wide right-winger took advantage of in October 1999, in Telford, in the UK, his first world title Chance, and dethroned the British Richie Woodhall by a point victory after twelve rounds. The super Middleweight became only the third German, who managed to be in the abroad world champion, after Max Schmeling, and Ralf Rocchigiani, the older brother of Graciano.

Twice a title brought back

After a successful title defense Beyer lost the championship belt of the Association of the WBC in may, 2000, by a technical knockout against the British Glenn Catley. It took around three years to Beyer again received a world Cup Chance: Against Eric Lucas, from Canada, he was the WBC in April 2003, for the second Time-the champion of the world. Twice he defended this title successfully before he lost in June of 2004, against Italian Cristian Sanavia. But in the rematch four months later, brought back Markus Beyer, the championship belt again. Matured and routinely remained Beyer then two years and five fights (four wins and a draw) long champion, but then lost in October 2006, his title in a unification fight with the WBA against the Dane Mikkel Kessler by knockout in the third round.

In 2008, Beyer ended his professional career and has worked as a Boxexperte in the private television. “He was my favorite boxer, a great person,” said his longtime coach Ulli Wegner on Beyer.
