The black Director and filmmaker Spike Lee explores in his films again and again with the Situation of the Afro-American population in the United States. In his latest Film BlacKkKlansman, the on 10. August is coming to U.S. cinemas on June 23. August in Germany is starting, it’s about violence and racism in the United States.

Appears in the Film exactly a year after the violence at protests against neo-Nazis in Charlottesville. The anti-racism activist Heather Heyer was passed over the protests and is murdered. After the Assaults in the Charlottesville, Lee decided to complement his Film with documentary footage of the protests, including the cars, the Heyer hit. The shameful reaction from Trump, the “both sides” responsible for the violence, has a built-in Lee.

The Anti-racism Farce finds applause

The Film itself is about the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and is based on a true story. In 1979, succeeded the black under cover agent Ron Stallworth, together with a Jewish colleague, the Racist Ku Klux Klan to infiltrate. Lee has made it into a parody, into the Ridiculous, but also deeply serious. The so-called Anti-racism Farce draws clear Parallels to current US policy, and to the social ills in the United States. In the lead role is John David Washington, son of Denzel Washington, at his side, Adam Driver plays.

Lee began his career as a film Director in the ‘ 60s, a time when well-known black actors like Sydney Poitier in Hollywood are still the exception. In the 80s and 90s, Spike Lee was one of the most influential Directors and produced films such as “She’s Gotta Have It” (1986) to “Inside Man (2006).

His Anti-racism parody, it was just shown at the Locarno film festival and received a special round of applause. In Cannes, he had to get the “Big prize”, the second highest award of the festival, for his new strip.
