Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world, ran once as an alien. Now, he delivers – in fact, beaten. The power of the Jamaicans back to a human, says Joscha Weber.

Super heroes in the movies or Comic. And on the tartan track: Usain Bolt.

He has this certain Aura. Usain Bolt enters the room and all eyes are on him. His gait is bouncy, his movements flowing, his Smile mischievous. 1,95 pure self-consciousness. A Winner is admired everywhere in the world. By the way also of themselves. Bolt says: “The Greatest of all time.” This title already belongs to Muhammad Ali, don’t bother him, on the contrary. He loves the historical comparisons, he lives for the big Show. So as Ali. And now Bolt has something in common with him: He has missed the right Moment to Stop.

Not the Old

DW sports editor Joscha Weber: “Usain Bolt deserves – in spite of the doubt – a lot of respect. His performances are unique, his entertainment factor as well.”

Ali was late out of the Ring and lost at the beginning of the 80s his last two fights – already drawn by Parkinson’s disease. Usain Bolt went out with Gold, hung and unbeaten from the big stage at the Olympic Games to start and then again at the world Cup. In hindsight, probably a mistake. Of injuries in the preparation slowed down, the now 30-year-old Bolt in the London of Old. Over the 100 metres he ran – until then unthinkable – only on rank three. In the 200-Meter, he did not. And his last race he had to cancel hurt – what a Drama.

Bolt assigns and know for sure that The last impression that counts in this fast-paced world, even and especially in sports. The Jamaican Superstar would have been able to go as unbeatable phenomenon, but he didn’t listen to his body. At the Games in Rio 2016, he was still the fastest, but a good chunk of his own records away, even though he wanted to attack there. A Signal, the Bolt overheard – or perhaps to pressure from his sponsors had to be ignored.

Tribute to one of the greatest athletes in the history

In fact, Bolt (2:.v.r.) loses his last individual race in London.

With the Sprinter retirement Usain Bolt takes on a big question: can we believe his story? Eight Olympic medals, eleven world titles and fabulous world records in the 100 (9,58 seconds) and 200 metres (19,19 seconds) are symbolic of a Sprinter from another star. Bolt ran over the years, in a League of its own, sometimes so far ahead of the competition, that his earthly origin is actually out of the question. Of course, his achievements raise doubts. How can it be that the world record holder is clean, and if all other runners transferred among the ten fastest in the world of doping, before the court, heavily burdened or even life-long that have been locked? A mystery can only be solved by Bolt – or possibly re-testing with new methods.

Because, unlike his convicted fellow countrymen Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell and Nesta Carter, Bolt never prohibited substances or methods have been demonstrated, the fact remains: We bow to Usain Bolt. One of the greatest athletes in history and deserves respect. His performances are unique, his entertainment factor as well. And that he was at the end, but beatable, makes him somehow a little more human.
