Starting Saturday you can watch 100 days of the documenta in Kassel. To see everything is likely to be difficult, the exhibition is scattered all over the city. Here is a selection:

The gigantic “Parthenon of books” by the artist Marta Minujin on the Friedrichsplatz is not to be overlooked. Modest in scale, but at least as the concrete tube house of Hiwa K is given in the documenta-Halle, one of the many art works on the theme of escape.

“The Parthenon of books”, and the Fridericianum

In the Fridericianum, where the collection of the Athens Museum of contemporary art is presented, it is worthwhile to climb to the top to see the broken glass flags-sea by Costas Varotsos. A floor hisses deeper it creepy in Mona hatoum’s decaying factory.

New gallery: Installation by Maria Eichhorn

In the New gallery, researched and documented in Maria Eichhorn, the expropriation of Jewish-owned. As an example, a room is a high shelf with illegally acquired books. Piotr Uklanski welcomes visitors with a wall of portraits of “Real Nazis”. A mock execution is one of the most provocative Works of the documenta. With plastic machine guns, visitors can take aim in the Kassel city Museum on the Performance artist Regina José Galindo.

The eye-catcher in the documenta-Halle Guillermo Galindos musical instruments that are built in boat wrecks are, at the very end of the hall. Previously, a detour to the left to the spirit of paintings by Miriam Cahn.

Outstanding is the huge image-Sound-Video work by Theo Eshetu and the curtain of reindeer skulls by Maret Anne Sara in the entrance hall of the Old main post office, one of the most exciting places of this documenta.

Anywhere in Kassel Soaps-seller. Otobong Nkanga has to produce in Greece, black soap, and to Kassel, where they will be sold to Finance more soap production.

Tube house of Hiwa K

Eyes on! Sometimes you don’t recognize art as such. People who slouch on steps, can be exhausted visitors, or for the Performance of “Staging” by Maria Hassabi. A Rips along the keys, humming pictures listen to, on an empty stage run – in Kassel for 100 days of everything art.
