The Dutch cyclist Tom Dumoulin has the 100. Giro d’italia win and his first overall victory on a day that is celebrated. The 26-Year-old from the German Team Sunweb improved in the final individual time trial over 29.3 km from Monza to Milan from rank four to the top spot. It is the first Grand-Tour victory of the Dutchman for 37 years. At the time, Joop Zoetemelk had the Tour de France.
On the final stage of the anniversary edition of the Giro Dumoulin handed in his discipline of the second stage in place behind his fellow countryman Jos van Emden Team LottoNL-Jumbo, the biggest success of his career. The Giro Podium was completed by Nairo Quintana from Colombia, the Dumoulin on the last day of the “Maglia Rosa” re-tore, and defending champion Vincenzo Nibali from Italy.
