Various hackers at the Mobile Pwn2Own have nfc to the security of smartphones to crack. In two cases, it was a Samsung Galaxy S5, while an idea from the tv series Person of Interest resulted in a cracking of the security of the Nexus 5.

The hacker in question used nfc to two phones are forced with each other to mate, something that in the tv series Person of Interest, under the name of ‘bluejacking’ plays a role. Thanks to the forced mate he had access to the Nexus 5, writes HP in a post about Mobile Pwn2Own.

The exploits that the hackers used on the Samsung Galaxy S5 does not seem possible on other devices. When those vulnerabilities were for mistakes in the nfc implementation of the Samsung device. Also the iPhone 5s and Amazon Fire Phone were victims of the hackers. Both went to the vulnerability through the browser, where attackers from the sandbox could break. It is unknown when the manufacturers of the vulnerabilities are going to close.

Mobile Pwn2Own is a competition in which hackers try each other and the last to pass through as quickly as possible the security of phones to crack. They do that by means of previously not known to leak.
