Three Dutch students try to use Kickstarter enough money to get an Arduino-compatible prototype-tool on the market. The Phoenard features include a touch screen and a large number of sensors and interfaces.

The Phoenard is running on an Atmel MCU, the same processor as in the Arduino Mega. The device is also fully compatible with the Arduino platform, but a developer can have thousands of programs – skits-called – install it on the handheld tool as opposed to just a sketch on an Arduino. The sketches on the Phoenard can use the 2.8″touch screen can be activated and managed.

The Phoenard, in three variants, despite its compact size, full of sensors and interfaces. Thus, there is a gsm module, a gps receiver, an audio decoder chip, a bluetooth module and a micro-sd card reader. Also a temperature – and pressure gauge are provided, as well as an accelerometer and a gyroscope. Through the gpio connectors can have many external parts to the Phoenard to be connected.

With the Phoenard board enables developers and hobbyists a host of applications. For example, the Phoenard, for example, as a smartphone, mp3 player or game controller. To beginners on the road to help contain the device already has a number of tutorials.

The three Dutchmen behind the Phoenard want $ 20,000 via Kickstarter to get the device on the market. At the time of this writing, that goal is already almost met. The Phoenard is expected to be 100 euros cost and available in april.
