LG stops at the end of november with the production of plasma tvs. The manufacturer wants to focus on the production of lcd – and oled-tv’s. According to the Korean group, there is enough demand for the supply of plasma-screen tvs, and even longer to justify.

LG made the stop with plasma-screen tvs, according to Reuters, it is known in the financial documents that the company must hand over to regulatory authorities. With the end of the plasmaproductie at the end of november, it stops LG at the same time as Samsung, which this intention in July announced.

A year ago, announced the largest remaining plasmafabrikant of that time, Panasonic, to stop this type of televisions. LG and Samsung let then know that their sales in any case in 2014 would continue. It is not known how large the stocks of both companies, but the expectation is that plasma tv’s in the course of 2015 from the shelves disappear.

None of the big brands are still plasma tvs to get. The technology has to travel at the cheaper lcd segment, while oled is emerging as the technology for tvs with good blacks. This last was one of the properties of plasma in a part of the consumers, made popular.

Although the manufacturers do not explicitly say, it appears also to have the advantage of smaller pixels with plasma is difficult; in the step towards uhd tv’s would be that difficult. In addition, it is to make even smaller models full-hd-tv’s already more difficult than the larger models.
