Hundreds of thousands of Snapchat photos are on the street – update 3

By intent or a hack of the servers of Snapsaved, which lets users photos of Snapchat to be able to store, there are possibly hundreds of thousands of Snapchat photos of users on the street. It seems that it happened via opendir.

Because the receiving party Snapsaved could use, know users or their pictures that they using Snapchat have sent are stored. Snapsaved hit the pictures on a server. According to the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet hackers have full control over the database of Snapsaved.

Snapchat is a service where users can send messages after a few seconds will automatically disappear. With third party services like Snapsaved users can messages still save to watch later. Between the material sit according to Dagbladet also intimate photos, including of minors.

The hackers would be on a private forum the photos to try to link users to a searchable database. About the hack would be on 4Chan spoken, says Kenny Withers, but except for a few photos, the hacker is still no evidence shown that he was indeed hundreds of thousands of photographs in its possession. Snapchat allows compared to TechCrunch know that there is not compromised on the servers of the company.

Update 3, Monday 12.30: It was found according to Business Insider, not a hack of the app Snapsave. Compared to Engadget denied SnapSave at the mouth of a spokesman or something with the leaking of the photos. A website called Snapsaved would have taken place as a site for the app Snapsave hear, for to save images from SnapChat. The site would be so the images have been collected, including the corresponding user names. It is unclear yet whether the service with the intent of the images has let leak out or that there was a hack. The site is offline now.
