Toyota starts ‘car sharing service with electric cars in France

Toyota is in the French Grenoble a cheap autohuurdienst set up. Customers can use a small electric car to pick up at a charging station and then at another charging station again to deliver. It’s yet to be a trial.

With Cité lib will Toyota cheap, short trips to offer. Customers can make an electric car to pick up at a charging station or a ride book with their smartphone. The fleet consists half of the tricycle i-Road, a small car which according to Toyota is just as maneuverable as a scooter. The other half consists of the Auto Body Coms, which is also a small single-seater, but with four wheels.

Sign up for the service costs 25 euros, but then the customer only per quarter to count. The first quarter costs 3 euros, the second costs 2 euros, and each subsequent quarter hour costs 1 euro. After the ride, the customer must be the car again and deliver it to the charging station. Customers with a subscription to the public transport network in Grenoble to get discount.

According to Toyota, which for Cité lib to work with the Japanese company Ha:mo, it is a trial that lasts three years. Starting next month, the ‘car sharing’service is available. It is unclear whether there are also plans for expansion to other countries. Previously, a similar service is already being tested in Japan. The concept is similar to existing autodeeldiensten such as Car2go and bike sharing services that are already in many cities and towns exist.
