Researchers from the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas from Greece have a wireless robot is developed that is in many ways similar shows with a swimming squid. The robot could in the future be used for oceaanonderzoeken.

The research team did last year, research into a robot-octopus, reports Cnet. The device, however, had solid tentacles, making it stiff, hard and a little speed could develop. In the new project flexible silicone is used in place of solid materials. There are also a kind of webbing is added between the tentacles are mounted. The robot can more water resist and up to two times more speed. With undulating movements to move the robot-octopus continued, in a manner that is similar to its natural counterpart.

The robot is tested in a laboratory and in the Aegean sea. On a movie is to see how the robot is being chased by a few fish. That may, according to Cnet mean that the robot octopus in the future, for example, can be used for oceaanonderzoeken, because the device has no repelling effect on the fish. In addition, would the robot be able, just like a real octopus, to objects to wear. That object may be a camera.
