The German minister of Justice Heiko Maas states that internetgigant Google so much power on consumers and the markets that the American company is forced to inspect in its search algorithms. The dominant position of Google is already the EU has been investigated.

In an interview with the Financial Times according to Maas that the power of Google about consumers and the markets ‘extraordinarily large’, with the minister particularly referring to the position that the company has on the search market. The German says that Europe must think about measures, if any, to the abuse of power to occur.

Maas refers to with his comments especially on the search algorithms that Google uses. This is a major influence on the displayed search results. According to the minister, Google needs to be more transparency in how algorithms in each other stitches and what changes the make.

The way in which Google more transparency would need to give, says Maas. However, he suggests that an ultimate consequence of a recalcitrant Google could be that the company split would have to be. Google has always refused to disclose the operation of its search engine ‘under the hood’ because the company’s algorithms considers as one of his most important business secrets.

Google has in Europe a market share of over 90 percent. The American company is currently under the magnifying glass because of possible distortion of competition. Google has several times indicated concessions to want to do, but this, according to the EU still does not go far enough and the investigation is still ongoing. Possibly, the supervisors even start an investigation into possible abuse of its dominant position by Google with its Android operating system.
