Dell has launched the sale of a Cast, a device similar to the Chromecast from Google. With the cast, users can content to for example a tv stream, but for now, the device is only compatible with the Venue tablets from the manufacturer itself.

The manufacturer is started with the sales through its Us website. The Cast is touted as an accessory for the Android tablets from the Venue series which Dell sells, but is functionally similar to the Chromecast from Google. So it is possible to the Cast via hdmi, to connect for example a tv, so content from the tablet to the tv. With the Cast it is possible to video with a maximum resolution of 1920×1080 pixels to an external device such as a tv.

Notable in the Cast is the presence of a usb port on the back; thus, users can, among other external devices such as a keyboard connect. It is for example possible to send an e-mail to answer as it through the Cast on a remote screen is displayed.

Yet it seems the Cast only through the Us Dell site to be offered with a price of $ 80, converted to 62 euro, is significantly more expensive than the competing Chromecast. It is not yet clear whether there are any plans to release to expand to Europe. Dell argues that there is now compatibility for Windows tablets is being worked on. In addition it was a spokesperson from Dell to Citeworld know that support for devices of other manufacturers ‘not excluded’.
