Update lets Xbox One live tv stream to phones and tablets

Microsoft builds functionality in the Xbox One via the Smartglass app live tv streaming to devices with iOS, Android and Windows Phone. Also get the Xbox One almost a year after the release a media player with support for dlna on board.

Microsoft promises new features in the updates in the next time must come out and announces them during gamesbeurs Gamescom 2014 in the German city of Cologne. Users of the Smartglass app will be able to live watch tv, switch channel, and fast forward and rewind without the gameplay to pause.

It is unknown whether the feature also in the Netherlands, will work. In the first instance, Microsoft makes the function available only in the countries where it is a digital tv tuner launches, including France and Germany; in the Netherlands, there is, as yet, not. Watch Live tv on tablets and phones can already in various kabelaars, but those apps work, it is not yet on Windows Phone. Smartglass requires that the user with the same wi-fi network is connected if the Xbox console.

In addition to the possibility for live watch tv get the Xbox One a media player, which both files from usb drives or via dlna streamed files can go play. Microsoft promises that the many file formats it will support, including mkv files and animated gifs.

The update comes in the next few months, promises Microsoft. The Redmondse company releases the Xbox One in september on the Dutch market, almost a year after the release in some other countries, including Germany.
