The Amsterdam taxi TCA will file a lawsuit to begin as the government, the service uberPop, which allows private drivers in taxi driving, not on tyres. This warns the director of TCA.

“We have in the Netherlands a law that taxiverkeer controls, and that does not allow private persons to transport”, says managing director Richard van der Veen of TCA opposite Tweakers. According to him, bypassing Uber with its UberPop-service law where taxi companies have to meet, and which requirements on the quality.

On Wednesday we made Uber announced that UberPop in Amsterdam, introduces. With uberPop enables individuals without taxivergunning with their own auto people transport. At the moment the service only for beta testers who themselves have signed up.

Van der Veen mentions the launch of UberPop in Amsterdam is a ‘publicity stunt’. “It’s nice that they have so much publicity managed to generate, but it may just not,” he says. According to the TCA director are drivers of UberPop similar to so-called snorders: illegal taxi drivers without a licence.

It is not yet clear what the government of UberPop, the Inspectorate for Environment and Transport, where the taxi industry is one of them, later on Wednesday with a response. The municipality of Amsterdam investigates the introduction of the service. European commissioner Neelie Kroes, who incidentally has no control over the taxi trade has told Uber earlier to welcome.

If there is no prohibition, then get TCA to the judge, says Van der Veen. “That is not only for us a reason to go to court,” says Van der Veen. Also association KNV, where Van der Veen member of the board, will then take the matter to court, he expected. “But I can’t imagine that the government is flexible to go with this stunt of Uber. So much confidence I have in our government.”

Uber itself thinks that the service by the bracket. “We have had a lot of contact with the government”, says Niek van Leeuwen of Uber opposite Tweakers. “From our discussions with the government indicate that they are open for innovative ideas in mobility.” Van Leeuwen says to expect the taxiwet is adjusted. “That is now unclear,” he says. “We expect the law will soon be adjusted, and there play we are already in.” In early march, said Van Leeuwen still opposite NU.nl that UberPop for the moment would be introduced in the Netherlands, because the taxiwet ‘not progressive enough’ for the introduction.

UberPop has been banned in Brussels, because the company taxiwetgeving violated. The prices of UberPop are approximately fifty percent lower than that of regular taxis. Not everyone can sign up to UberPop: drivers have a relatively new car and a certificate of good conduct is required. UberLux and uberBlack, which regular taxis can be ordered, are already active in Amsterdam.
