The Belgian grid operator Infrax wants consumers and businesses that have solar panels ge lwa installed have to pay more in the form of a capacity charge. This amount should be based on the basis of the required power.

That says Frank Vanbrabant, the new director of Infrax. Vanbrabant is of the opinion that owners of solar panels should contribute to the costs of the Belgian electricity network. The ceo believes that a rate based on kilowatt-hour ‘no longer corresponds with our costs, and calls, therefore, for reform of the tariffs. “That way, also owners of solar panels at the cost of our networks,” says the director of Infrax.

Infrax wants to calculate the rates, the power supplied to a customer as a basis. For 80 percent of the families in Belgium, would 10 amps be sufficient. The fee that they have to pay would be equal to the current netvergoeding.

Customers that more power is needed, so with a heavier installation of their solar panels to the mains, would have to pay more to the operator in the form of an additional levy. Infrax says that in this way the costs for maintenance and investments in the Belgian power grid a fairer way be divided. The company believes that in the next two to three years here still no decision on will fall.
