Facebook adjusts the default settings for new Facebook users so that messages are not for everyone, but only for friends visible. With that, comes the social network back to an approximation of five years ago.

Five years ago put Facebook the default setting for the viewing of messages from new users to ‘Everyone’. Who wanted only friends, the messages could understand, that had to manually adjust. Now the company is back on that decision and is the default setting back to ‘friends’.

When the first message is to get new users a pop-up with the question with whom their posting to share. They make no choice, then the setting on ‘friends’. “We understand that it is worse for someone to accidentally share with everyone when he is the only with friends and wanted to share it, than vice versa”, gives Facebook as the reason for the adjustment.

The social network announces more changes on privacygebied. In the coming weeks rolls Facebook, a more detailed ‘privacycheckup-tool’, users privacy adjustments leave implementation on the basis of their posts, apps and profile.
