Sound mp3 players and mobile phones can be much too hard’

Mp3 players and mobile phones that the music can play, can be too much, concludes the food and drug administration. Thus they do not meet the statutory noise requirements since this years. Mostly cheap phones and players violating the law.

Since 23 January is a European standard that states that mp3 players and mobile phones sound up to 85 decibels may produce. Also, should the output voltage to the headphones, not more than 27 millivolts amounts. Those standards, however, are by many music players and mobile phones exceeded, as has the Dutch Food and consumer product safety Authority concluded. Some mp3 players and phones could even be more than 90 decibels produce.

If a device is able to more than 85 decibels to produce, measures should be taken: if the volume should software be limited to 85 decibels. There must also be at a high volume to be warned of harmful effects. Of the 31 surveyed devices were there 26 does not meet those rules, as is apparent from the research. Which devices are in violation, is unknown: they are not mentioned by name. But it is clear that especially cheaper phones and mp3 players to hard.

Noise levels above 80 decibels can term for deafness. Sounds above 100 decibels can also acute deafness occur. When a maximum of eight hours per day to sounds of 80 decibels is listening, there is no danger, according to the NVWA. If the noise level is higher, that period is shorter.

According to the National Hoorstichting has 37 per cent of young people between 12 and 25 years and a bad hearing. In 2010 it was 30 percent. The foundation says across the NOS to be shocked by the results and wants that is made public which devices are in violation.
