Microsoft increases by 9 October, the maximum number of devices on which account holders a Windows 8 app, and soon, Windows 8.1-app, may install of 5 to 81. The manufacturer is thus responding to feedback from, among other developers and users.

Until now if a user with his account, an app from the Windows Store on up to five Windows 8-based systems. Microsoft wanted this ceiling to prevent abuse and ensure that app developers have no income backfired. The softwareconcern says, however, feedback from developers and powerusers to have had that five systems is not enough: “Developers ask for more flexibility for the implementation of their business models, and customers want the apps on a large number of different tablets, laptops and desktops can run.”

By 9 October it is therefore possible to an app per account on up to 81 different systems. “This applies to all apps in the Store,” says Microsoft, “for both Windows 8 as Windows 8.1.” According to the company, it can increase the maximum for more revenue streams in apps revenue from ads.

Developers get the ability, however, the limit to the limit, using a set of apis that Microsoft makes available. That app makers must unambiguously in the Windows Store to customers make it clear that there is a lower limit as regards the number of systems on which the app can not be installed. Microsoft puts Windows 8.1 on 18 October, and the expectation is that this will involve the release of many new apps.
