“Gmail for Android gets ads’

The Gmail app for Android gets, after years advertentieloos to have been, yet, ads. That concludes an Android fansite from the code of the latest Gmail version. The desktop version of Gmail has been around for years with ads.

Google has the supposed arrival of ads to the Gmail app is not officially announced yet, but Android Police found in the source code of version 4.6 of the Gmail app signs that the ads are going to come; there is a new library added is named “ads”.

The source code of the app also points out that it is possible to have ads as a message store. Although the code in the app is present, it seem like the ads are still not to be turned on.

The new version of the Gmail app was last week rolled out and contains a number of smaller tweaks. So is the conversation view in Gmail adjusted, with messages such as ‘cards’ be displayed, something that Google slowly in all its Android apps in the process of implementing.
