The popularity of tablets means that the pc market is still firmly in decline. That writing analysts. There were this spring, 11 percent fewer desktops and laptops sold than in the same quarter last year. The total number of sold pc’s came from around 75 million.

More and more people in Europe and the United States to replace a cheap pc through a tablet, while in developing countries, for many people, a cheap tablet the very first pc’s, writes analistenbureau Gartner. ICD blames the shrinkage also to the fact that laptops with touch screens are still expensive and little attractive for many consumers.

The contraction came, according to both analistenbureaus from around 11 percent, which last quarter approximately 75 million pc’s are sold. Lenovo is the market leader, closely followed by HP. Lenovo is also the manufacturer-the only one that almost as many pcs sold as the same quarter of the previous year: the decrease was 0.6 percent. The Chinese manufacturer had to do with the decline in the home country, so the pc sales of Lenovo could not grow.

Dell is the world’s number three, followed by Asus and Acer, both of which are about a third less pcs sold. Apple is not in the global top 5, but both analistenbureaus signs that the manufacturer sales of laptops and desktops in the United States in any case did not grow. Gartner also points out that it is not obvious that Windows 8 is one of the reasons for the shrinkage of the market, because Apple has no growth.
