Nuon Solar Team presents Nuna 7-solar car

The Nuon Solar Team of the Delft University of technology has its solar racing car Nuna 7 presented. The vehicle, which in October at the World Solar Challenge 2013 will participate, has four instead of three wheels and has an asymmetrical design.

While the previous Nuna-models of the TU Delft have three wheels had on board, the Nuna 7 of Nuon Solar Team of four wheels. That is necessary to meet the new regulations of the World Solar Challenge to meet. In addition, the ‘solar car’ in an asymmetrical design received, with the driver on the side.

To maintain balance in the accumulators and the addition in the Nuna 7 right next to the bulge in the front of the driver is placed. The Nuna 7, with 6m2 of solar panels, weighs 180kg and can be a speed gain of 185km/h. The wheels of the car are surrounded by fairings on both sides over almost the whole length of the car run.

Also the opponents of the TU Delft in the World Solar Challenge in October, that race will be, by the new rules to their design, have to adapt. Main challenger of the Dutch university is the team of the university of Tokyo.
